June--Make-Us-Laugh
The end of the school year can be a bittersweet time for children and for their teachers. I thought we’d lighten the mood by having a "make-us-laugh" share. Please help your child choose a kindergarten-friendly joke to share with the class. Please let me know if you have any questions.

April--Antiques Roadshow
The theme for April's share will be Antiques Roadshow. Please help your child to choose an object which is older than they are to share with us. You could send a piece of costume jewelry which belonged to an older family member, a photograph of family from a previous generation, a piece of "cutting edge" technology that you have hiding in the attic like a "Walkman" or an old rotary telephone. You may have an idea of your own. I hope you have some fun with this share! I will send you a form to complete with your child which they will use to talk about their item. Please let me know if you have any questions.

March--Creation Share
Our share for March will be a Creation Share. Please help your child choose something which they have made to bring to school to share with their classmates. Anything they have made is Ok to share: artwork, painted pottery, a poem or story they’ve written, woodwork…the possibilities are endless. A few years ago a child performed a magic trick! Please help your child practice three things to say about their creation, after which they will respond to questions and comments from their classmates. Please let me know if you have any questions.

February--100 Day Share
During the week of February 12th, we will celebrate the 100th day of school-provided we don’t have too many snow days. As part of this celebration we would like each child to create a project using 100 objects. The project will be completed at home and brought to school to share with the class. It can be as simple as linking 100 paper clips together, or making a design on paper with 100 objects like pennies, toothpicks, buttons, stickers, etc. The items can be pasted on a poster board, strung together, or any other creative idea. Please do not use any food items for the 100th day object. Any design your child makes will be celebrated. This is a great time to have your child practice counting by ones, fives, and tens. They will be asked to share with classmates how they counted the items. The completed projects can be brought in any day from February 5th through February 16th. If you have any questions, please let me know.
January--Mystery Share
January’s share will be a Mystery Share. Each child will choose one small object and work with parents to develop and write three clues to read to classmates-a form will go home on 1/2/18. On their share day they’ll bring the object to school hidden in some way—in a small box, paper bag, or wrapped. If your child is determined to use an object which isn’t easily transported to school a picture of the object will work just fine. If we have no school due to a snow day and your child misses their share, send it on the next school day and we'll work their share into our schedule as soon as possible. Please let me know if you have any questions.

December--Favorite Book Share
Our December share will be “Your Favorite Book”. Please help your child select their favorite book to bring to school to share with the class. Your child will not be reading this book to us, but they will be telling us about it. Please help your child to practice saying why this book is their favorite and maybe put a post-it note on their favorite page or part. I’m looking forward to learning more about the readers in our class! In the event of school cancellation on your child's share date, send it in on the next school day and we'll fit them into the schedule. If you have any questions please let me know.

October Share--Tell Us About Your Family
October begins our monthly share routine. Each day one child will share with their classmates. Since we are still getting to know each other, October’s share will be a Family Share. Your child may bring to school a picture they have drawn or a photograph showing everybody in their family. Please help your child by having them practice three things they can share about their family. This could be a special trip you take every year, something funny about your family, or a fun fact about your family.
