During our Reader's workshop we all received new just right books and had the opportunity to read with Ms. Audet or with Ms. McCormack. We worked at centers to practice reading and writing our 10 Kindergarten spelling words. We learned about a fun new center called Power Tower. When we play power tower, we will be learning to quickly read kindergarten words. During our Writer's Workshop we learned that our How-to books should have a title and an introduction that tells what the book is about. We worked together to write introductions to our class books How To Get Ready for Recess and How To Make a Ham and Cheese Sandwich. On Wednesday, February 14 we will celebrate Valentine's Day with a party from 1:25 until 2:25. During our party children will complete a craft, play some games, and deliver their valentines. If you'd like to volunteer to lead a game or activity at our party, please let me know. Delivering valentines is an exciting event in Kindergarten. I would encourage you to decide on your child's valentine and/or make them over the course of several days. It's a LOT of work to sign your name 14 times when you are in Kindergarten! You may want to break up this activity over the next few weeks and have your child sign a few valentines at a time. A reminder that food (candy, lollipops, etc...) can not be a part of valentine's day cards as no outside food can be distributed at school. You can send Valentines to school Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. We have been greatly enjoying the 100 Day projects as they come to school. We have seen 100 eyeballs, 100 glittery pom-poms and 100 gems. We are looking forward to seeing the rest as they come in! Because of a burst pipe we had an interesting Friday! Children and teachers met up at Coastal Ridge Elementary school. After settling in we had snack, some PE time with Mr. D and a fun recess outside on the playground. We listened to a story, watched The Lorax and ate lunch in the gym. In the afternoon we had music, listened to another story in the library, worked in the Maker Space and the Art Studio.
