This week we continued to grow as a community of learners. We shared our Hopes and Dreams and made a LONG list of rules that would be important if we want to accomplish all of our hopes and dreams. While we were chatting about those rules we decided that there were too many so we sorted them into categories and decided upon these three rules: We will remember to: Take care of ourselves. Take care of each other Take care of our school. We continued our Special Student routine and looked closely at the names of Quentin, Chris, Hayden, Collin, Chloe, Hina and Rylen. This week we began talking about words that rhyme. We read and acted out the poem Jack Be Nimble. It was fun when we substituted Jack’s name with each of our names. We also practiced hearing rhymes in a silly poem called Did You Ever See? For stories we read No, David; Chrysanthemum; I’ll Wait, Mr. Panda; My New Friend is So Fun; and First Day Jitters. During our Math block we practiced seeing numbers around our school when we took a number walk, we practiced counting when we played Gotcha!, we looked closely at the numbers 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 and we practiced showing “5” lots of different ways. October begins our monthly share routine. Each day one child will share with their classmates. Since we are still getting to know each other, October’s share will be a Family Share. Your child may bring to school a picture they have drawn or a photograph showing everybody in their family. Please help your child by having them practice three things they can share about their family. This could be a special trip you take every year, something funny about your family, or a fun fact about your family. The schedule for October’s share can be found on the Share Dates page under the MORE tab above.
